Michael didn't seem to hear Tom as he launched himself at Ryland without any more hesitation.

"No!" Tom tried to scream it, but it came out as a whisper. He tried to get up, but landed in a heap on the floor.

Matt spun around. He picked up the broken blonde gently.

Michael beat Ryland mercilessly without saying a word.

Ryland fought back but only to parry blows until he saw an escape opening.

Matt tore the bedclothes into strips and used them as makeshift bandages.

Michael took advantage of Ryland's movement to punch the vampire in the nose, smiling at the sickening cracking sound.
