Humble Abode

Wren smiled at him and grabbed her book off the nightstand.

Dane shoved his clothes into his bag and finished rubbing himself dry.

Wren flicked through to her place and resumed reading.

Dane tugged on a pair of worn white jeans and sat down on the bed beside Wren, water on his chest still drying.

Wren kept reading, barely aware of him sitting down. It was a fault of hers: whenever she started reading she became oblivious to the world.

Dane rested his head on Wrens shoulder and read the book over her shoulder.

Wren turned the page, still not realising Dane was there.

Dane moved away and began thinking of some new material for one of his shows.

Wren flipped back to check something, then resumed reading.

"And he went flipping through the air like when someone doesn't know how to play Techan and they're just hitting the buttons randomly..." Dane muttered, scribbling it down in his notebook.

Wren glanced up, snapping out of her reverie. "Hmm?"

"Just working on some stuff for my next show." Dane told her, holding up the notebook.

Wren nodded. "Okay." she went back to her reading.

Dane began scribbling down some jokes, water still drying on his back.

Wren curled up, tucking her knees under her chin whilst still reading.

Dane finished writing and put his book away, moving to get a shirt.

Wren fell onto her side on the bed with a soft thump, still not stopping reading.

Dane sprawled out on the bed, starting to fall asleep.

Wren closed the book, also starting to feel tired. She yawned quietly.

Dane wrapped his arms around Wren and snuggled into her.

Wren squeaked quietly, relaxed and leaned into him, eyes fluttering shut.

Dane yawned then fell asleep.

Wren snuggled into him happily, already asleep.

When Wren awoke it was dark. She was hungry. Starving in fact. Her priorities switching to food first, everything else later, she headed for the door, pausing only to grab her coat.
