Solace in Darkness

Butcher had to look away from the bodies. He wasn't desensitized to sights like that yet. He wished there was something he could do to lighten the mood but his throat felt like it was constricting.

Cyzarine sat in silence, not caring about what Mikey and Butcher might be thinking about her. All she wanted was Hatty to cheer her up and for Demyx to be allowed to stay.

"Just fine," Butcher replyed, looking a little pale. He felt like maybe he shouldn't have been so affected since he had had a job as a butcher after all, but it was horrifying all the same.

Cyzarine looked at Mikey, and decided to speak. "Mikey? Can Demyx stay at Mandible House?" she asked.

"I'm with you," Butcher said with resolve. Now he was allied to both sides, and he vaguely wondered which one he'd end up on in the end. He had to betray someone so either way there was going to be pain.

"Yes?" Butcher blinked in confusion.

Cyzarine frowned as she got no answer, but decided to stay silent. She'd felt very calm and happy after being with Demyx, but now she felt hassled and wild again. It wasn't fun, she decided, wasn't fun at all.

"I'm with you," Butcher repeated more quietly, making a final decision about which side he was going against. He felt bad but as soon as the terms of Mike's deal were over then he wouldn't feel obligated.

Cyzarine frowned as she watched Mikey walk away. "Mikey, wait!" she called, stumbling to her feet and going forwards a few paces.

"What?" Butcher perked up. He hadn't exactly been paying attention to his surroundings. He didn't know what he was listening for.

Cyzarine sighed and wondered briefly if Mikey was even listening to her. She perked up and honed in on the sound Mikey was telling Butcher about, though it was slightly jumbled, due to the fact that she'd been listening more to the thoughts across the graveyard. ---If he tries to pull me into this, I'll gut them both, sacred ground or not.--- Cyzarine frowned and blinked as she realised what it was.
She remained silent, though.

"He..." Butcher froze in shock. He still had so much to learn.

Cyzarine frowned, before nodding rapidly. "Yes!" she rasped, eyes widening as it clicked together in her mind. "He is! And a girl - she's not pleased with him - and-and..." she blinked as the name didn't come.
"Blackinton!" she cried, smiling as she remembered.

All the color drained from Butcher's face but he followed obediently.
