Aliceabella frowned. "No offence, but they sound like...Birds." She shrugged. "But if your friends with one of them then I won't insult them."

"They are but they drink blood and have fangs." Ryland shrugged. "You can insult them if you wish. Their brains aren't fully developed."

Aliceabella laughed lightly at his last statment and crammed her hands into her coat pockets, shuddering as she felt the wedding ring and Damian's energy flow over her hand. She quickly removed her hands from her pockets and folded them together, desperate for something to do with them. "Are there many Avians in this city?" She asked, looking up at Ryland.

"A sizeable population," Ryland shrugged, walking slowly. "They're multiplying like rabbits. Animal instincts you know."

Aliceabella laughed again and ran her hand through her hair. "The Avian were going to see, are they nice?" She took a small step towards him, hardly aware she was doing it.

"Very nice," Ryland chuckled and shoved his hands in his pockets and glared at a vampire eyeing his guest.

Aliceabella noticed the vampire looking at her and took a step closer to Ryland, whimpering in fear softly.

Ryland kept moving, ignoring other vampires. "This way," he turned suddenly and took another hallway.

Aliceabella stared at the other vampires wearily before turning and running after Ryland.

Ryland opened the door to an exit, "This is a shortcut."

Aliceabella looked up at him for a moment before nodding and walking through the door. "Where does your friend live?"

"A sanctuary for avians," Ryland lead the way down the sidewalk. "Being inferior creatures they need to be protected from the rest of the world."

Aliceabella giggled. "You don't think very highly of these Avians do you?"

"Some of them are fairly attractive and the one we are meeting is of average intelligence," Ryland grinned and turned another corner towards Mandible House.

Aliceabella smiled and then looked at the building they were heading towards. "Is that where the Avians live?"

"Yes," Ryland watched his walking pace, making sure not to move too quickly as they approached the house.

Aliceabella stared up at the house. "It looks nice enough..."
