Simple And Clean

Aliceabella looked up at Ryland, small frown on her face.

"Hmm?" Ryland looked back at her.

Aliceabella bit her lip. "I..." She looked down. "Never mind."

Ryland grunted and slipped down in his chair.

Aliceabella looked back up at him. "Are you alright?"

"Just fine," Ryland grumbled.

Aliceabella smiled softly. "You don't sound it."

Ryland paused for a moment then shook his head. "Just fine."

Aliceabella wriggled to the end of the medical table she was sitting on. "Truth please, Mr Blackinton." She smiled.

"There's nothing wrong," Ryland said childishly.

Aliceabella stuck her tongue out. "Liar."

Ryland chuckled. "Not a liar."

"Are too." Aliceabella retorted childishly.

Ryland opened his mouth to retort but snapped it back closed when the doctor walked back in with some other medical vampire who had a stretcher.

Aliceabella stared at the stretcher, eye's widening. Without realising she was doing it, she inched backwards.

Ryland raised and eyebrow and the doctor directed the medical vampires to lift Aliceabella and put her on the gurney.

Aliceabella inched backwards, not caring about the pain. "I cant." She whispered.

The doctor sighed and politely dismissed the workers. "You carry her then." He crossed his arms boldly and stared pointedly at Ryland.

Aliceabella relaxed slightly as the stretcher was carried out.

The doctor raised his eyebrow at Ryland's lack of movement. "Well?"

Aliceabella bit her lip. "It's alright." She whispered.

Ryland glared at the doctor and stood, taking the girl into his arms.

Aliceabella allowed her head to rest against his chest out of habit, smiling softly.

Ryland followed the doctor to the infirmary and placed her on one of the beds.

Aliceabella stared up at Ryland, wondering how she'd manage staying on her own.
