Love is dead

"Have a favorite color?" Ryland signed paperwork.

She didn't hear him at first, and then immediately jerked her head up. "Blue." She said quickly

"Blue," Ryland nodded and scratched some notes on the bottom of the paper he had attached to a clipboard and handed it to the tailor. "When the clothes are complete send them up to that room."

Haylie waited until the tailor had left before she looked up at Ryland. "Why does everyone look so afraid of you?"

"I'm a clan leader. They tend to want to say on my good side," Ryland shrugged. "Are you hungry?"

She shook her head but her rumbling stomach said otherwise

"I can get you whatever you want," Ryland raised an eyebrow.

"What would you suggest?" She asked him

"You're a free vampire, right? You don't belong to a clan. You can do whatever you want." Ryland looked amused.

"I'm free." She nodded. "Why do you ask?"

"Just wondering," Ryland inspected his nails. "If you are hungry you could have room service bring something up to you."

She nodded "That sounds nice." She admitted.

"So you are hungry then," Ryland smiled.

She nodded furiously. "A little."

"Order something," he gestured towards a restaurant brancing off from the main lobby.

"What's good here?" She asked

"Just about anything although I would stay away from any dishes containing mushrooms if I were you," he laughed.

She couldn't help but smile at that. "What if I happen to like mushrooms?"

"Then you should hope it's a good day and they picked them up at the grocery instead of in the forest somewhere." He grinned.

"I'll pass on the mushrooms," She folded her arms across her chest

"Good idea," he smiled and took a menu.

She took one too. "Are you always this nice?" She asked, twirling a piece of hair around her finger

"Of course not," Ryland smiled brightly and skimmed his menu.

She looked through the menu. "Then why are you being so nice to me?"

He thought a moment, "You're not on a side yet."
