No reason

Aliceabella blinked as he pulled her into his lap, not expecting it. She felt a smile tug its way onto her lips. "I just..." She paused. "I don't want to take up more of your time than I should." She snuggled into his embrace a little.

Ryland grunted and sat back against the headboard.

Aliceabella felt herself smirk at his somewhat non-commital response and began tracing patterns on his shirt with her fingertips.

Ryland raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything, assuming that maybe it was just a thing she did whenever she was close to a man.

Aliceabella stopped tracing patterns on his shirt and looked up at Ryland. "Why was William here anyway?"

"I wanted to see how big he was." Ryland chuckled at the memory of William waddling like a penguin.

Aliceabella smiled faintly and moved her hair out of her face. "But one thing I don't understand- I've seen two pregnant men today- but I've never seen a pregnant man before in my life. Hell, I didn't even think men could get pregnant."

"As far as I know all avian men can get pregnant but only certain vampires can. I've been trying to figure out what's different about William." Ryland shrugged.

Aliceabella nodded. "Well he must be really special, I've been living with vampires for most of my life and I've never known a male vampire to get pregnant."

Ryland took note of the new information. "I think autopsy is the only way we'll figure it out."

Aliceabella pulled a face. "What a dainty thought." She wrapped her arms around her stomach out of habit before pausing and taking them away.

Ryland noticed what Aliceabella did and chuckled.

Aliceabella realised what he was chuckling at and pouted. "Hey, you try doing something for nine months and then stop doing it like that." She clicked her finger and humphed- although it was clear she wasnt really angry.

Ryland chuckled again and scooted away from the headboard so they were both lying down. "You should sleep."

Aliceabella shrugged in reply, scooting up a little so her head was resting on his chest.

Ryland put a hand on her hair and stared up at the ceiling.

Aliceabella looked up at him briefly before yawning and closing her eyes. "What did they do with the baby anyway?" She mumbled, placing one hand on his chest.

"They took him to the nursery where our young are taken care of when their mothers are busy." Ryland craned his neck to look down at the woman cuddling him.

Aliceabella nodded and yawned again. "I've still no idea what to name him..." She mumbled, lolling against him sleepily- but determind not to sleep. That was when she was most defencless.

Ryland chuckled and let his head fall back so he could continue staring at the ceiling.

"You chuckle a lot don't you?" Aliceabella asked laughing to show she was joking, snuggling into him a little at the same time.

Ryland's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

When she got no reply Aliceabella glanced up at Ryland, frowning when she she saw his confused look. "I do something wrong?" She asked quietly.

"No, nothing's wrong," Ryland's features smoothed out.

It was Aliceabella's turn to look confused now. "But, you looked sort of...confused."
